Certified Paris Breakfast

Saturday morning, I was wandering to the Eiffel Tower, and along the way, we decided that we were hungry. It seemed unfortunate to us at the time, but we did not pass any cafes that looked like what we wanted when we were on our way. When we arrived at the tower, we were all starving, so our first priority was finding something to eat. We walked to the other side of the tower, where we stumbled upon a cafe that looked promising. By this point, we were starving and would have eaten anything, but this cafe had crepes. One of the main things that I wanted to eat while in Paris was crepes, because that is something that Paris is known for.

The picture above is of the crepe that I got at the cafe. It was the first crepe that I had ever had, since I am usually scared of trying new foods. However, since leaving for study abroad, I have gotten into a mindset where I only live once, and I should try everything I can while I am here. I tried a fairly plain crepe, which just had banana and Nutella on it, along with the whipped cream. It was one of the most delicious things that I have ever eaten, and I want another one so badly. It made my stomach so happy, which was very nice.

The poem "The Given Note" by Seamus Heaney has a line that reminds me of my time in this cafe.  "Though nothing like melody. He blamed their fingers and ear As unpractised, their fiddling easy," While in the cafe, I kept hearing music coming in from the outside, and it reminded me of everything I had seen about Paris on television when I was growing up. These lines of the poem reminded me of this cafe because the music was coming from a local street band, one that you could tell was unpracticed in some of their songs, which made the band all the more endearing. I loved this experience in Paris and I 100% would go back and get another crepe.
